CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Image consent form - download

WARLEY RANGERS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB adopts the policy of the Football Association and the NSPCC on Child Protection.

Warley Rangers recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying.

ALL children and young people have a right to be safe and to be treated with respect and dignity at all times.

The Social Services department, the NSPCC and the Police have a statutory duty to protect children and young persons.  Warley Rangers accepts that it must work in partnership with these agencies when child protection issues arise.

Warley Rangers recognises the significance of ethnic and cultural diversity and the protection of disabled and vulnerable persons.

Warley Rangers has a designated Child Protection Officer who has attended CSLA Child Protection Workshop (and will attend the Football Associations Child Protection Workshop at the earliest opportunity) and takes responsibility for implementing this policy with all Warley Rangers officials and will liaise with regard to ongoing development, policy changes and training opportunities.  Any concerns about a child’s welfare must be reported to the Child Protection Officer.

All Warley Rangers officials, helpers, volunteer’s etc., are required to complete an FA Personal Disclosure form prior to having any involvement with children and young people.  This is the responsibility of each individual team Manager and the Child Protection Officer, who ensures these are forwarded to the Football Association for screening.

NO officials, helpers, volunteers etc., will be permitted to assist with any activities unless supervised by an approved Warley Rangers official until a satisfactory reply is received from the Football Association relating to the submission of an FA Personal Disclosure form or can prove membership of the FA Coaches Association via a photographic identify card.

Ideally there will be a minimum of at least two Warley Rangers officials involved at all times during coaching activities and treatment of injuries.

Where teams are of mixed sex, then an understanding must be agreed upon as to when officials will be permitted into the changing room, the officials shall also be of the opposite sex.

Parents/carers shall be made aware of changing room access times.

It may sometimes be necessary for officials or volunteers to do things of a personal nature for children or young people, particularly if they are very young or have disability.  These tasks should only be carried out with the full understanding and prior consent of parents/carers and the children or young people involved, again a second person shall always be in attendance.

ALL Warley Rangers officials, players and parents/carers will be asked to read and sign a code of conduct in line with FA guidelines prior to being involved with club activities.  These codes of conduct identify what is expected from each party with regard to behaviour and respect of others.

The protection of children and young people is the proper concern of everyone in a position to help.  It must be stressed that the importance of apparently small matters needing to be taken seriously, listened to and addressed.  A recurring pattern of ‘minor’ complaints can indicate deep-seated problems that need to be addressed.  All Warley Rangers officials, helpers, volunteers who are involved with children and young persons will take complaints seriously and report them to the designated person.

ALL players have direct access to Warley Rangers designated Child Protection Officer, complaints will be acknowledged and recorded.  Abuse may take place within or outside of the football environment.

DISCIPLINE AND SANCTIONS:

Warley Rangers recognises that children and young persons need to discover where the boundaries of good behaviour lie and this can sometimes lead to challenging situations.

Unacceptable behaviour will in the first instance be prevented via a verbal reprimand.  Should further acts of unacceptable behaviour take place with any individual(s), then further recourse will be referred to Warley Rangers Constitution Rules.

NO FORM OF CORPORAL PUNISHMENT (HITTING, STRIKING, SLAPPING, PUSHING) WILL BE USED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
