Stump Cross 0 v Warley Rangers 6
(09 Sep)
A comfortable
away win against Stump made it 3 games unbeaten at the start
of the season for Warley
A hat-trick
from new boy Lee Wharton and further goals from Lee Burrows,
Andy King and Scott Whelan made this an easy victory against
a team who took 4 points of us last season whilst boss Paul
Hiley was preparing himself for the delights of the San Siro
in Milan. A welcome result awaited him on his return

Sowerby Utd 3 v Warley Rangers 2
(17 Sep)
Warley
recorded their 3rd away win on the trot with a 3-2 success
at Sowerby United.
The blues
started well playing up the slope (at Sowerbys new home for
a season at Cemetary lane) without really creating any
worthwhile chances to trouble the Sowerby keeper thus
allowing the home team to start pressing down the slope.
This resulted in a well worked goal from the fullback to
give Sowerby the lead.
The blues
responded well and pressure resulted in a fine strike from
Wharton from 20 yards to equalise. But standards dropped
from what is expected from the boss thus allowing Sowerby to
grab another goal to take the lead into halftime.
For the first
time this season harsh words were said at halftime and this
resulted in a totally different team turning out for the
second half. And after sustained pressure an equaliser came
through the impressive Chris Hall. This goal seem to refresh
the whole team and we started to play some expansive
football and it was only a matter of time before the winner
came. Again midfielder Hall was the saviour with a scrambled
goal that kept up the winning start to the season.

CUP<--
Warley Rangers 0 v Ryburn Utd 1
(24 Sep)
Warleys cup
run ended at the first hurdle as Premier Division Ryburn
Uniteds 1-0 victory puts the away team in the hat for the
second round.
A good old
fashioned cup tie resulted in Warley suffering their first
defeat of the season when a goal after 20 minutes sealed
this win for the visitors. Despite good performances from
the whole of the team Ryburn proved on this occasion to be
just too strong!!!!

Warley Rangers 1 v Sowerby
Utd 3
(01 Oct)
A sloppy
performance by the home team resulted in this first league
defeat against a team we had beat 2 weeks previous.
2 first half
goals from Barber and Wilkinson put Sowerby in to a
commanding lead at halftime. Warley played better in the
second half but the game was already lost after the first
half performance. And Sowerby went on to score another
through Wilkinson and although Warley replied through Whelan
and then missed a penalty through Grogan. Lets sign this
away in the archives and leave it there!!!

Warley Rangers 13 v Stump Cross
1
(08 Oct)
Bottom club
Stump Cross were this weeks visitors to Warley who had to
bounce back from last weeks defeat to maintain their push
for the leadership of the division.
This was the
Scott Whelan show as he probably broke Warleys scoring
records by plundering 8 goals in a very one sided
game.Braces from Chris Hall and Lee Wharton pushed it into
double figures. And a headed goal from Simon Mitchell
seconds after coming on finished the scoring for Warley.
Visibly
outclassed Stump never once threw the towel in and they did
score a goal of their own. This does help the goals for
chart and lets keep the football flowing.

AFC Lords 1 v Warley Rangers 1
(15 Oct)
Warley went in to this game on
the back of a thumping win against bottom club Stump, but
without front man Lee Wharton who sustained a knee injury
playing squash.
The away team started the first
half up hill and started to dominate from the off without
really creating any clear cut chances. So as the half
continued the Home team started to get more confident thus
making it a good honest battle in midfield. With Warleys Lee
Burrows, Chris Hall and Gary Kikutz prominent and Andy King
and skipper Ben Gornall raiding up the flanks it stared to
get entertaining. But then disaster struck as most of the
team started to believe they could continue in the same vein
as last week and Lords scored through Mitton. Warley then
for the rest of the half struggled to get any control of the
game and the half time whistle went
Harsh words from the boss were
needed and the boys in blue started the second half as they
had the first, Scott Whelan showing up well with his
battling qualities. But chance after chance was missed, and
also some dubious calls from the referee from at least 3
penalty shouts. As the game was drawing to a close it took
Whelan to finally draw Warley level. And after another
blatant penalty was again refused. A draw was the final
result, point lost or point gained only time will tell!!!

Warley Rangers 6 v Friendly 2
(22 Oct)
Warley returned
back to winning ways after last weeks disappointing draw.
Three first half
goals from Lee Wharton with 2 and Scott Whelan settled any
nerves against derby rivals Friendly F.C. But a slightly nervy
second half saw Friendly reduce the score with a goal from
Disley and it wasnt until Gary Kikutz scored his brace that
Warley could settle down and play some attractive football.
Friendly
finished the scoring with a far post header from a corner

Holmfield 3 v 5 Warley Rangers
(29 Oct)
Warley
returned from Holmfield with another 3 points to maintain
their push for promotion.
In a bruising
battle Warley opened the scoring with a 20 yard free-kick
from the prolific Lee Wharton and then doubled their lead
through strike partner Scott Whelan.
Holmfield then
replied with a goal of their own. It took a wonderful and
brave run from right mid-fielder Andy King to restore
Warleys 2 goal advantage only for the home side to score a
soft goal just before half-time
The second
half continued in the same vein as the first with Wharton
scoring Warleys 4th goal with a great run and shot only for
Holmfield to again reduce the score from a free-kick. It was
left for skipper Ben Gornall to break the off-side trap and
finish with aplomb to secure a fantastic and worthy result.
Lets see if we can continue in the same form next week away
to Tyersal in the West Riding Cup

Tyersal FC v Warley Rangers
(05 Nov)
In cup
football when your playing teams at a higher level, if your
playing well you go in hope of an upset. If your not you go
with a sense of playing with pride and keeping the score
respectable.
Warley went to
Tyersal on the back of one of their best starts to a season
in a long while toping Division 1 whilst Tyersal would go
3rd in the West Riding Premier if they won their games in
hand.Well we started well enough playing good football, but
then disaster 3 chances 3 goals. Shellshocked is the word
but then we again started to play attractive football
without really creating any worthwhile chance. And then to
compound our misery 5 minutes from half-time 2 more chances
2 more goals.Half-time 5 down .
We decided at
half-time to try and keep it tight to start with and maybe
nick a couple of goals down the hill to make the score
respectable. This lasted a minute at the most as we conceded
a 6th. The game then died as the home team slackened off and
our heads were almost on the floor knowing the game was well
and truelly lost.It wasnt until the last 10 minutes that
goals 7,8and 9 were conceded, but it didnt really matter by
then. Well and truelly beaten by a class act.
I think we can
really say that nobody played bad its just that they were so
much better. Good luck to Tyersal for the rest of the season
in both their league and cups. As for us! well you can
say that we will concentrate on the league!!!!!

St Andrews 0 v 2 Warley Rangers
*CUP
(26 Nov)
Warley
returned to action after a two week lay off with a cup match
against Premier league team St Andrews.
Warley started
this cup match on fire but after 15 minutes the 2 week lay
off resulted in there play becoming disjointed. But having
said that the only clear cut chances came our way, but Scott
Whelan had clearly left his shooting boots at home. Half
time came with the score 0-0 and with the opportunity of a
win increasing we started to play the better football,
chances started to come but Whelan and Wharton continued to
fluff them and it was'nt until skipper Ben Gornall made a
great run through the middle and smashed the ball into the
roof of the net that we took the lead.
Manager Paul
Hiley then made a change by bringing on Craig Beazley for
Whelan which resulted in the former to leap like a salmon at
a corner and bury the ball into the back of the net to put
Warley through to the next round with a hard fought 2-0
win.

Warley Rangers 2 v Salem
1
(03 Dec)
Warley
continued their decent start to the season with a hard
fought win against bogey team Salem.
Salem started
the match missing 4 regular first teamers, but still put up
a tremendous show to just come out second best in this hard
but fair battle. They started the better and scored after 20
minutes and held the lead until half time.
But Warley are
made of stern stuff this season and drew level on the hour
with a terrific strike from Burke. It was backs to the wall
then for Salem as Warley pushed them back and really went
for the jugular. But it was'nt until the last seconds that
we got the winner. Another goal for Salem old boy Wharton.

Salem 0 v Warley Rangers 4
(14 Jan 06)
A convincing
away win by the blues after last weeks upset keeping us on
track for promotion.
Goals from new
boy James Dodd with 2, Lee Wharton and Craig Bodkin resulted
in a surprisingly easy away win against Salem which could have
easily been doubled with the missed chances. 3 first half
goals finishing the contest through Dodd and Wharton. And a
fine solo effort from Bodkin 10 minutes from time resulting in
another 3 points in the bag before next weeks Cup match at
home to Mixenden.

Warley Rangers 8 v 3 AFC Lords
(28 Jan 06)
Well what a
difference a week makes!!!!!!!!!
Words were
said before kick-off about the excuses that we can't play on
our home pitch. And manager Paul Hiley sent the boys out in
a determined frame of mind!! Or so it seemed.
Lords arrived
with no subs or even a manager for the kick-off, but that
didn't stop them being first to the ball 2nd,3rd or even 4th
ball. A good strike by their midfielder and a almighty
blunder between keeper Carradice and centre half Parker
resulted in us being 2 down after 20 minutes. Dodd replied
on 35 to reduce the arrears.
Again harsh
words at half time, unfortunately the boys decided to
leak in a 3rd. So manager decided to warm subs up, the
returning Gornall and Whelan, only for the boys to go goal
crazy!! Dodd finished with 5, Wharton 2 and Kikutz with a
penalty at the death. Giving the keeper the eye
treatment. The subs did get on eventually!!. Bring on the
Old Boys
